Training

Therapy can be even more effective when you have the right support network around you. I can provide personalised training and practical guidance to help the people involved in your care develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to support your communication, eating, drinking and therapy goals.

Training can be delivered on a one-to-one basis or to groups, and can be provided to relatives, friends, carers, wider organisations, multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), schools and other settings.

Training may include:

  • Supporting the people around you to understand your communication needs and how they affect your everyday life

  • Learning effective communication strategies

  • How to support someone in the community

  • Communication partner strategies

  • Learning how to support and use AAC effectively

  • Understanding speech difficulties and how to support clearer communication

  • Supporting someone to follow their therapy programme between sessions

  • Guidance around eating, drinking and swallowing recommendations

  • Learning how to implement strategies safely and consistently

  • Practical demonstrations and opportunities to ask questions

  • Advice tailored to the home, school, workplace or care environment

  • Written guidance and resources to refer back to
