Therapy
Your therapy will be planned and delivered based on your individual strengths, needs and goals.
Therapy will focus on the things that are important and meaningful to you, helping to make intervention relevant to your everyday life.
Therapy sessions are available in 30, 45 and 60-minute appointments. The most appropriate session length will depend on your individual needs, goals and type of intervention.
Therapy and intervention will look different for everyone. Sessions may include:
Practicing personalised therapy activities and exercises
Developing strategies to support communication in everyday situations
Developing language use and word finding strategies
Cognitive-communication activities targeting skills such as attention, memory and problem-solving
Working on speech clarity for motor speech disorders
Addressing social communication difficulties and conversation skills
Using and developing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and other communication aids
Play-based therapy for children
Swallowing rehabilitation including compensatory strategies to facilitate oral feeding, and texture modification
Feeding and sensory-based activities
Other Approaches to Therapy
Therapy doesn't always have to take place sitting at a table. Where appropriate, therapy can take place in real-life environments and situations that are meaningful to you.
Functional therapy may include:
Practicing communication skills at home with family
Going to a café or restaurant to practice ordering and interacting with others
Shopping and practicing everyday conversations or problem-solving
Using public transport and practising functional communication
Supporting a return to work, education or other activities
Completing everyday tasks that involve planning, memory, organisation or problem-solving
Practicing safe eating and drinking strategies during mealtimes
Functional Therapy
A personalised therapy programme can help you continue working towards your goals between sessions. Programmes are designed around your individual needs, abilities and daily routine.
Therapy programmes may include:
Personalised exercises and activities to complete between sessions
Cognitive-communication activities
Word-finding and language exercises
AAC practice and structured skill development
Swallowing exercises and strategies
Communication strategies for everyday situations
Activities for family members, carers or support staff to practice with you
Suggestions of games and other informal tasks

This depends on your needs, goals and preferences. We will discuss and agree on a therapy plan that is right for you.

Yes. With your agreement, family members, carers and other people involved in your care can be included in therapy and provided with guidance or training where appropriate.

Yes. With your consent, we can liaise and work collaboratively with other professionals involved in your care, including the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Where appropriate, a personalised therapy programme or activities may be provided to help you continue working towards your goals between sessions.
